When I started my journey into using herbal remedies for my children, I knew absolutely nothing about natural remedies or alternative medicine and was completely lost in a sea of information on the topic.  Add my lack of knowledge with the apprehension of using anything even remotely dangerous on my precious babies and you come up with a lady who was pretty paralyzed when it came to herbs.

And then, I found this fabulous book!

ABC Herbal by Steven Horne

It armed me with very basic and very simple pieces of information that I could really use to get my children healthy and keep them healthy.  It was an easy-to-read manual without a lot of technical jargon that would have gone over my head.

From this book, I finally learned that it is better to learn all the intricate details of a few herbs than to gather little bits of information about hundreds of them.

Mr. Horne talks about his own experiences with his children as he kept them healthy and happy with herbal remedies.

Over the last four years, I have referred to this book probably hundreds of times to guide me as I boiled a new concoction or administered a garlic enema.  (Yes, we really have used garlic enemas and they bring fevers down in seconds!)  I truly appreciate all the knowledge that is packed into this book.

Steven Horne has been teaching people about herbs for over 28 years now but he started learning about herbs nearly 40 years ago!
