Homeopathic Pulsatilla
Next in this series of articles on how to turn a baby in the breech position, we’ll tackle the idea of homeopathic treatments.
If you are not familiar with homeopathy, I’ve looked up a definition of the practice. “Homeopathy is a system for treating disease based on the administration of minute doses of a drug that in massive amounts produces symptoms in healthy individuals similar to those of the disease itself.”
The website for The Society of Homeopaths helped with this example. “It works on the principle of “like cures like” – that is, a substance that would cause symptoms in a healthy person is used to cure those same symptoms in illness. For example, one remedy which might be used in a person suffering from insomnia is coffea, a remedy made from coffee.”
You can find homeopathic treatments at any local health food store. There is quite a range of ailments that can be treated using these ideas. I almost got lost in the aisle looking at all the other things that would be useful for me!
After I browsed a little, I was able to find the treatment for a breech position – Pulsatilla. You can find it in a few strengths, so I’ll tell you what I found for dosages of each:
- Pulsatilla 200c – Take one pellet one day. Try it one more day if the baby hasn’t turned.
- Pulsatilla 30c - Take 5 pellets under the tongue twice a day for two weeks.
- Pulsatilla 6X – Take one tablet under the tongue four times a day.
Homeopathic treatments for breech positions are best used in conjunction with some kind of body positioning treatment such as laying upside down or using a yoga position. Take the homeopathic treament and then perform your positioning.
From what I learned, the Pulsatilla causes the muscle fibers in the uterus to even out which then would allow the baby to turn into a head down position.
