I am so glad I am able to share my many attempts to turn my breech baby with you! If you feel silly trying any of the techniques listed in this series, please know that you are not alone! I felt silly sometimes, too!
Although I have not heard of any stories relating the success of this technique, I was told to do this probably more times than any other technique. Whether it has ever worked before or not, I was willing to try ANYTHING to get my baby to turn head-down.
Cold
The idea here is that the baby will not like any cold sensation nearby. You can use anything that is cold such as a bag of frozen veggies, an ice-pak, a carton of ice cream. (Defrost the ice cream on your belly and enjoy with pickles later!) Place the cold object right where you think your baby’s head may be and let it stay there for as long as you can stand. My husband used to help me do this while I was laying upside down hoping that she would really feel uncomfortable enough to move.
Light
Instead of hoping the baby will move away from discomfort, this time you are hoping your baby will move toward something interesting. Grab a flashlight and make sure the batteries are working. (If you’re like me, you’ll probably have to run to the store to get some batteries first!) Turn it on andplace the light near where you think your baby’s head is. Then, move the light around a little bit in quick movements to get the baby’s attention. Slowly, move the light down toward your pelvis. Imagine your are playing with the baby with the light in order to keep the baby’s attention. If you feel the baby stir while doing this, keep it up! Try again and again – you just never know!
Music
This is the same premise at the light technique with a different medium. Instead of using a flashlight, use a headset with your favorite music, especially something you listen to regularly that the baby may already be familiar with. Turn the music up. Once again, place the earbud where you think the baby’s head is and try to entice the baby to move by pulling the music down toward your pelvis.
It sure seems like this is something that would work! I would love to hear your success stories, or ANY story involving turning a breech baby!

my name is shireena, i am 36 weeks, my baby is breech, i desperately want him to turn, which methods will work best, did
u had luck with any of these methods
thank you
Hi Shireena, the webster technique can do wonders for a breech baby and a pregnant mom. the technique is not meant to turn a breech baby, but it will open up the pelvic area and loosen up the muscles so that your baby has enough room to come out. I suggest to my patients to try ALL of the methods described on this page at home, as well as the inversion and cat/camel stretches.
Good luck!
